MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I was gonna say what an asshole, but that's a redemption.

I think they're both assholes.

To be honest, had Votto left that without the ball, he could have made that guy quickly into a 15-minute villain throughout Reds fans.  A much more minor version of Bartman.  The beauty of the internet is the picture of the baseball went viral.

I got nothin'.

Maybe not a villain, but an idiot. He doesn't deserve an autographed ball. Votto shouldn't have done what he did (except that it was funny as hell), and I understand the ball is good public relations damage control...

...BUT JESUS...YOU HAVE THAT SEAT AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN A BALL IN PLAY COMES NEAR YOU?!

He actually looks pissed when Votto kept him from catching it.

OTOH, Reds fans should be running onto the field and tackling their players if they are actually are going to catch a ball.  Get those draft picks baby!

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Seriously, especially in this day and age.  I kinda assume people in those seats would say to themselves and maybe even those around them (in a cool/friendly way) to stay the hell out of the way if one of your guys is trying to make a catch/out.

I guess if you're drunk, then theoretically, that might go out the window.

The whole apology baseball thing would have been a ton more genuine if the cameras didn't catch every second of it, but what the fuck is genuine these days?

I don't know, maybe his 'bullying' bit in his comments after the game was real, but it came off to me like it was all damage control.

As an aside, in '03, I had a few friendly email exchanges with Bartman but as soon as my tone started to get the tiniest bit negative, he stopped replying.  I emailed him again  (probably not his email now) before last years playoffs just to avoid even the possibility of pissing off the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing--didn't get a response.

Good work today, Reds. 7-0 win over St. Louis.

Cubs move up to a 9.5 game lead on their off day. Love it.

Bam Bam Bigelow never really died; he put on a baseball uniform and came back as Brett Oberholtzer.
