I'd love to get Archer back while his value is down, but that's precisely why he won't be traded.

Part of me wonders if the Cubs were potentially the team that offered a kings ransom for Sale.

Quote:Part of me wonders if the Cubs were potentially the team that offered a kings ransom for Sale.Doubt it. The Dodgers and Rangers are the teams that come to mind that are most desperate to improve their rotations and have even deeper, farm systems from which to pull off a trade for Sale.

It's known the Cubs are looking for a controlled starter also. Sale would cover the loss of Arrieta next season. I don't think it will happen, but, the Cubs have the firepower to get a deal done just as much as any team in baseball.

Arrieta isn't a FA until 2018.

Given Sale's herky jerky delivery and the fact that he weighs about 80 pounds, I'm worried about his arm falling off. I wouldn't want to give him a long-term deal.

I don't think the Cubs were in on him either.

Quote:Arrieta isn't a FA until 2018. I meant next season like losing him after next season. I should have worded it better. We do likely lose Hammel this year though.

Cardinals came back to tie the Dodgers. They're in extras, Dodgers have 13 hits the Cardinals have 5. Fuckers.

Whoever are the broadcasters for the Dodgers road games (i.e. not Vin) are deadly dull.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

The Tampa and Oakland game just went into the 12th at an 0-0 tie. Of course, they have a long way to go to reach the record of longest game before a run was scored.

It looks like it's 200 innings to make it a mutual option:
Quote:The Cubs hold a $12 million option on Hammel for 2017 that becomes a mutual option if Hammel pitches 200 innings in 2016. Given the lack of starting pitching depth at the higher minor-league levels, Hammel could pitch himself into a favorable position. 200 innings seems extremely unlikely; he's at 107.1 innings with 13 or 14 starts left. Plus there's the cramping, which even if managed, will keep the inning count lower.
