MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I'm just glad they made that trade and not us. Kept hearing names like Soler + 2-3 top prospects come up in rumors. Glad our FO wasn't that desperate. As much as I dislike Lackey as a human being, he was a HUGE bargain and the right move as an alternative to Miller.

Julio Urias debuting for the Dodgers Friday at Citi Field.  He's 19 btw.

Tony La Russa: still an assclown.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

He seems like the real deal, but curious how they will manage his workload. The kid has never logged more than 87 innings in a single season.

In his defense, he was stinking drunk at the time.

This comment made me laugh:

Oh, so when La Russa squeezes into a booth unannounced, he’s “defending the truth.” But when I do it, I’m “drunk” and “not welcome in this IHOP anymore.”

That and the Billy Joel comment made me giggle as well.

Honestly though...why is he able to enter the broadcast booth? Is there no lock? He should be fined.

Quote:"Hanging changeup and a hanging slider, right where hitters want the ball," Leake told the Associated Press. "If you take those back, it's a zero-run ballgame."
And if you put 3 extra zeros at the end my bank account balance I'd be a multi-millionaire.

I love that this is a thing.

Surprised that no one mentioned this but the Sox collapse continues in very entertaining fashion. Last night their bullpen blew a big lead against the Royals after initially getting no-hit into the 6th inning by Duffy but then breaking through for a 5 run inning. I love it that Harrelson gets to call their most heart-wrenching losses, and that he's chosen to leave the comforts of his Indiana home and travel long distances on the road just to have his ego and soul crushed. The Sox could be in 3rd place by tomorrow.

Oh I've noticed. I just didn't want to say anything. But they're coming back down to earth in a hurry. I hope this season crushes Hawk's will to live. Literally.

I watched last night.  He spent that entire bullpen implosion inning whining about the first missed strike call of the inning.  I'm pretty sure it was the very first pitch of the inning.  Yeah, that was it.  Shut the fuck up.
