MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
How are the White Sox this good?

Yeah, he'd already reached 1st before the runner turned around and headed back.

Somehow they seem to always score just enough runs. I bet their record in one run games is ridiculous.

It's a glass cannon. They will be out of it by August.

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

Frazier hits a grand slam in the 12. The inning before the Rangers had a runner on third with one out and hit into an inning ending double play. Smh

A federal judge has denied an attempt to subpoena the Houston Astros by the former St. Louis Cardinals scouting director who is now awaiting sentencing for hacking.

Chris Correa pleaded guilty in January to five charges of unauthorized access of a protected computer. The charges stem from an investigation of a computer hacking into the Astros' database, Ground Control, to gain access to proprietary information.

U.S. District Judge Lynn Harris issued an order April 28 stating that Correa could not subpoena the Astros "for production of documents," the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The attempted subpoenas could relate to comments Correa made at his January hearing, when he admitted he had trespassed repeatedly but said he had done so "based on suspicions that (the Astros) had misappropriated proprietary work from myself and my colleagues," according to the newspaper.

Correa was fired by the Cardinals in July. His sentencing is set for June 6.

Also some details are emerging on the Strasburg contract, which as it turns out is heavily backloaded.

Quote:Strasburg will receive $15 million annually from 2017-23, and then $10 million per year from 2024-30. This helps the Nationals in two ways: keeping payroll lower in the near term, and also lowering the actual value of the entire package. The Nationals, the person said, figure the deal is actually akin to about $162 million if it were paid out only over the seven-year life of the contract.
