Not to be cold-hearted, but a head first slide into home plate during a spring training game is pretty fucking stupid, especially for a guy with a previous injury. I'm sure plenty of other players do it, but I've got to believe that run wasn't that important.

Not surprised at all that the entire organization is modeled in LaRussa's image. After "winning" the offseason the DBags followed that up by trying to dominate the preseason too. Head-first slides are pointless regardless of the magnitude of a particular game.

Agree that a head first slid is rarely a good idea specially in a spring training game. Could imagine a scenario at which a fringe prospect of aging veteran would try to demonstrate his resolve to manager in an attempt to hold onto or gain the 25th roster spot. I'm not going to knock AJ's heart but the kid made a dumb move and it's going to cost his team and him.
