That's a ton of pressure to put on one player but seems, from a distance, that he can handle it.
I fucking HATE the Padres because of '84 and because someone in their FO is really good friend of my brother-in-law's growing up (and now) and he got together with my wife a few years before I met her.
She told me about it when we were dating and disclosing our one night stands and that was hers--they had known each other for years though.
I saw the guy at my b inlaw's wedding a few years ago (and only put it together AFTER the wedding)...he was some surfer looking dude, now a lawyer with hot as fucking shit model wife at the time (since divorced).
Yeah...I know this is sharing a lot of useless irrelevant private bullshit but I've only told this to one other person (a buddy who lives in SD--and I was drunk), so it helps getting this off my chest.
It really pisses me off when we lose to that team.

That's good enough for me.

I'd be working an angle for box seats in San Diego. *shrug*

I dont mind the Padres. Petco is a great stadium to watch a game at with sensational eating options, then a brisk walk to the Gaslamp Quarter afterwards to keep the buzz happening. Apart from Wrigley, one of my favourite to watch a game at. (Mind you I have only experienced Wrigley, Angels Stadium, AT&T, Petco and Citi Field so I cant really compare with much).

I really like San Diego, and Pads fans don't bother me all that much. Steve Garvey can go fuck himself though.

Padres most likely grossly overpaid for Hosmer. They were under pressure to spend revenue sharing proceeds but were only competing against the Royals. Glad Hosmer got paid but seems more likely due to Boras than Hosmer’s expected production, skills or “the market”
“In the world we inhabit, Corey Seager will make about $600,000 in 2018, and Eric Hosmer will make 35 times that, and J.D. Martinez will remain unsigned, and almost half of the league will not be trying to win.”

MLB players know that system is broken. Haven’t seen progress regarding recommended solutions but at least players are reporting for spring training

I'm over my Padres hatred. I haven't really cared about them for a while even though they were the first baseball team I really, truly hated with all of my little heart.
I still kinda hate the Marlins, though.

Pace of play initiatives being implemented in 2018 include limiting mound visits to 6 per 9 inning game and 1 per extra inning. Pitch clock postponed until 2019 (and hopefully never).

If he doesn't end up somewhere in the AL, this would be my preferred destination for Jake.
