So I take it the pitch calling system would readjust to every batter somehow? I have a feeling there would be a lot more high strikes, which no umpire seems to call, and a lot fewer nibbling on the corners.

Sensors that set the top and bottom of a batter's zone could be embedded in the uniform, or better still, just an RFID embedded in an adhesive patch, affixed to the skin...one that triggers an alert if tampered with, such as by being peeled off and moved.

It would be simple to get all the players calibrated once a season. March them through at Spring training...one location in AZ and one in FL. Measure them, enter them into the system and then the system adjusts on the fly for each hitter. A batter's zone would be fixed, irrespective of how they crouch.

Apparently due to the bevy of afternoon games on Sunday. Players won't have to be pulled from mid-game for any last-minute trades at 4 pm.

Yeah, I think the trade deadline should fall on a Monday or Thursday every year. Those are usually travel days, pick the one closest to the 31st and make that the deadline for that year.

Cepedes' 3 year $75 MM contract to return to Mets rather than 5 year Nats deal at $22 MM per year. Mets provide him an opt out after Year 1 and have him making over $27 MM in the first season

Yeah, he's gambling a bit, but next year's FA class is said to be terrible.  So assuming he has a decent, healthy year, he will probably get paid $27M this season and then get a better long-term deal next year.  Upside for the Mets is that I think they can make him a qualifying offer if he opts out which they couldn't do this year because he was traded.

From his perspective I sort of get it, and from the Mets perspective even more so. I guess I don't see how the # of buyers for corner OF's like him (and 1 year older) will be much different next season. I'd much prefer that douche Gomez. Anyway, I hope he is terrible in 2016 and the Mets are stuck overpaying him for 2 more seasons.

Earlier this month, former Cardinals scouting director Christopher Correa plead guilty to five counts of unauthorized access to a computer for hacking the Houston Astros database. Unsealed federal documents revealed that Correa used an old password to look at confidential information, including scouting reports and notes on trade talks.
