MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Sounds like the Red Sox just traded for Kimbrel.

The Red Sox gave up their 4th, 6th, and 13th ranked prospects in addition to Asuage for Kimbrel. That's insane! He's a closer, that's way too much.

Yeah, I don't get it. Then again, Dombrowski is running things now, not Cherington & Co. He's been known to not fall in love with prospects. But someone needs to remind him that the Red Sox rotation is the problem not their pen.

I think Dombrowski's preference for free agents definitely shows here.

Well, to be fair, their bullpen was pretty awful this season as well. I would assume he is hoping he can fix the rotation through free agency.

Ian Kennedy just rejected his QO.

The latter will be a mistake IMO.

Who is Kennedy's agent, his mom?

Mark Buehrle to retire or pitch for Cards.  Death isn't an option?

Expecting voodoo magic will allow him to post sub-4 ERA and deliver 200 innings next season at age 37.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Seems cheap.

Maybe. Obviously he's a great defender, but wasn't 2015 his "breakout" year offensively?

Could be wrong, those Giants seem to be made of "breakout" years every year.

It blows my mind that Rich Hill has once again become a semi commodity.

Reply
My recollection was that Rich had the capability to be a solid to great MLB starter but mentally he wasn't capable to handle issues associated with pitching when his arm, shoulder, conditions weren't 100%.  Still recall Ozzie Guillen referring to him as a mental midget. - edit - it wasn't a mental midget but "Tell that Triple-A [bleep] to shut the [bleep] up," Guillen said. "Tell him to start throwing some strikes or he's going to get Dusty fired."

Yeah, but that was before he was 36 years old.
