If it weren't for their new TV deal and voodoo magic, the Cardinals would be considered screwed.

 

Believe the TV deal kicks another $20 MM / year commencing in 2018 but they could structure back loaded deals for free agents to make up differential.  In addition, believe that their current TV deal has minor increases built into its later years also.

Sounds like the Braves are close to trading Andrelton Simmons to a yet to be identified NL West team. Curious what that nets the Braves, given that it could set the trade market value for young middle infielders.
