Why do a expect that Lynn's TJS will turn into scenario in which some free agent, like Shark, signs a one-year prove it contract for the Cards, and pitches like the re-incarnation of Cy Young. Of course, the next offseason, the pitcher goes on to sign a 7 year deal with Yankees, Dodgers, whomever and immediately blows out his arm.

They also might lose Lackey. They have a lot of depth though.

Isn't Martinez out for awhile too? I'm not sure that depth is there anymore. This does mean though that they could be competing with us for FA arms.

You'd think this would force them to overpay to keep Lackey now, but it's the Cards.
