MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
And now both Luhnow and Hinch have been fired by the Astros.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Wow.

How quickly before the Cards make a play for them?

It's pretty incredible that no one in that FO thought maybe this shouldn't be happening?

Can you imagine for a moment...

The Cubs lose game 7 in 2016 and then it later comes out that the Tribe were pulling shit like that. We'd be ready to riot, and rightfully so.

The penalties seem pretty harsh, but I honestly don't think they're harsh enough. Think about how many teams and players this affected. It changed the outcomes of so many games, including the World Series. It may have changed future salaries of pitchers who they lit up, particularly in the postseason. The ripple effects are massive.

And, yes -- I can't believe they were stupid enough to think that this would never see the light of day.

Fuckers should have to vacate their trophies. Fuck the Astros
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

It has to weird for the Dodgers, they lose to the Astros and then Cora w/ Boston. Every fan always thinks their team was cheated, but I guess they were. Not to mention the teams they beat to get to the WS.

Also, sounds like players should be punished but won't be.

I would have to imagine Cora gets a lifetime ban, right?  Penalties seem harsh, but didn't Coppolella get a lifetime ban?  The Astros scandal seems much worse.

Yes, I’ve read calls for the Rose treatment for Cora but just don’t see a lifetime ban for him. Yes, he helped development the system for cheating and reconstructed it after being caught. If league would have considered negating wins then would concur he’s done with MLB but league didn’t seem to touch that third rail. In addition, league doesn’t appear to be seeking evidence of other team’s cheating using similar system so they may just go after Cora and Beltran and let punishments end.

The report says 8 other teams are alleged to have done electronic sign stealing.

How do you throw the book at the Braves for improper international prospect signings but not this?

Looks like Trevor Bauer is doing what he does best...

I had forgotten that Alex is also Joey Cora's brother. Makes sense now.

Beyond Cora and Red Sox, there doesnt appear to be additional investigations established for those other teams. In addition, as Beltran was a player during initial sign stealing period, he may receive immunity. Mets still may can him, but not at MLB direction. Feels like Manfred/MLB wants issue to go away.

He's trolling a bunch of the Astros pretty hard.
