MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
What the hell is going on with the Braves?

Reply
It doesn't sound good, but I find it hard to believe that Coppolella was primarily responsible for whatever happened. John Hart has always been a control freak, so its odd that hes still around to run things even after his contract officially expired. This is like Kenny Williams allowing Marco Paddy take the fall for their international shenanigans several years ago, and then he got promoted.

One positive is that this probably means there is one less suitor for Otani over the offseason.

I'd like to see them move on the Braves for this nonsense.

I like the big thing of hand sanitizer.  Although, he is really into cleanliness.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Cardinals fire pitching coach Derek Lilliquist and bullpen coach Blaise Ilsley.

Cards have found their scapegoat for missing the playoffs in consecutive years

At the risk of jinxing it, I'm not sure how the Cards are going to leapfrog the Cubs anytime soon. In fact, I think they're stuck in 3rd place for a while. I'm more worried about the Brewers than the Cardinals at this point.

Eh, if we add more controllable pitching in the offseason, I think this team still has several advantages (talent, depth and resources) that no other team in the Central can match. I expect the Brewers to get better as their young talent continues to develop, but still dont see them on our level just yet.

Cards have talent in minors which is moving into MLB over next seasons. Again, until entire organization is swallowed up and transported to hell as it deserve, I’ll continue to be concerned with the Cardinal organization.

Other than Carlos Martinez, their homegrown talent has been average to slightly above average. They haven't developed a legit star since Pujols.

That's definitely true on the position player side of things, as guys like Piscotty and Grichuk have been inconsistent, and in some stretches terrible, although I would add that DeJong and Wong had really good seasons. In terms of young pitching though, Alex Reyes would have been a huge factor during this season had he not succumbed to TJS. They also have to be encouraged by what they saw from Weaver and Alcantara in limited time. They also have money to spend to fill holes at 1B/3B if the right deal comes along. They aren't going away.
