MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I could definitely see the Dodgers grabbing Hamels now especially as insurance with Greinke probably opting out at the end of this season.

So Girardi is coming out with an interactive sci-fi baseball game app. I won't be downloading this.

Olney reporting the O's could be willing to part with Gausman. I don't know what it would take, but that is a trade I would like.

Isn't he hurt?  Maybe I'm thinking of Kyle Zimmer.

Why would they do that though? Aren't they only a few games out of the WC and within striking distance of 1st place?

Flipped over to the Sox/Cards game. Of course Molina is up with bases loaded and 2 outs with Robertson in trying to hold a 2-0 lead. And of course he hits a 3-run triple on an outside pitch that he guided into RF. Sox now down 3-2. Damn.

So when does Ben join the Cubs front office?

Probably after Lucchino resigns and Werner muscles his way in. Not sure where Cherington would fit here though.

I honestly have no idea how to feel when these two teams play each other.

When the game ended I felt indifferent toward the result, but while it was in progress I put my Sox hatred aside and was rooting against the Cards with all my strength.

He could cover radio-phone interviews for the President of Baseball Ops. Cherington, another New England local boy, is a spooky voice double for Theo. His first year, whenever I heard him on the radio, I had to check the date because he sounded identical to Theo. Either my ear got better or he has become his own man because this doesn't seem to be too much of thing now.

Hard to say if he has any skills because the Boston front office is such a mixed up pissing contest.

Mengden and Nottingham were ranked #19 and 22 in the Astros top 30 prospects per MLB.com.   Surely we could have beat that.  Hope that means we have something better in the works.

I thought Kazmir was the best of the plan b's although he wasn't really pitching deep into games despite his great era.

Maybe we aren't digging any of the rentals and are shooting for more years/cost control? If so, I'm good with a Tyson Ross type instead.

John Sickels had Nottingham at #71 overall in his mid-season rankings, and he's on Baseball America's radar too. He's a genuine prospect.

Interestingly, Sickels has Torres at #25 and McKinney at #28 (with Schwarber at #6).

One dick can poke an eye out. A hundred dicks can move mountains.
