Lot of hate in NY for Gleyber right now.

I haven't heard much from the shit talking Yankees fan baseball dad who used to say, "Thanks for Gleyber!" every time I'd see him at one of my son's games. It's like he would make a beeline straight towards me. As if I ever knew what fucking Gleyber Torres was doing for the Yankees if he didn't tell me all about it.

I wouldn't have known either, but a lot of my political follows on twitter are fans.  The team as a whole is doing as bad or worse than the Cubs, but they seem to be focusing pretty closely on him.

Just a couple of years ago, that entire fanbase had him pegged as a first ballot Hall of Famer. Wonder what happened.

Still pretty early and he's still young.

Strange how a demise would be comforting somehow though. I must have a pretty cold heart.

I would still take him back. Is the hate mostly over his defense? I try not to pay attention to Yankees bullshit because their fans are some of the biggest phonies on the planet.

He's not hitting either apparently, also they're giving him shit for lack of hustle?

Congrats to Hector for a fine career. Hard to believe he is still only 33.

In the latest successful exploits of ex-Cubs, Lester pitched 5 scoreless and Schwarber hit a 454 ft HR to score 2 runs in 10th inning to win game 2-1 for Nationals

And for those you want to hate on ex Cubs, this was Lesters first start of season and Schwarbers slash line for season is 206/254/365 and WAR of 0.1 for season while K-ing 21 in 63 ABs

And it pivot back to Cubs, Schwarbers 0.1 WAR is better than 2/3s of the Cubs starting outfield - Pederson and Happ have -0.5 and -0.3 WARs for the season

Dodgers lose May for season as he’s expected to have Tommy John surgery

They probably have 10-12 Cy Young candidates just waiting in AAA to take his spot.

Fat Albert joining the Dodgers according to report in The Athletic

Heres ESPN story on signing

That seems like a very un-Dodgers type move. Since when do they need a DH?

A shitty DH.

Clearly, Dodgers were worried of the remote chance that if Pujols returned to the Cards, Padres, Giants, or even Cubs and reinstituted his Cards voodoo magic regime, he would return to his NL days of > 6 WAR

Whats the value of the roster spot and his salary to the Dodgers vs weighted avg remote chance of his regaining his glory days

He's possibly 45 years old (if you believe rumors of birth certificate shenanigans in the Dominican), and he's been bad/terrible for years. He's not recapturing his glory years. Seems like nothing more than a Hollywood attention grab.

Watch him become a good pinch hitter for them, win a world series and ride off into the sunset.

Super weird move. His OBP has been hovering around .300 since 2015 and has dipped below it several times during that span. He still hits a few home runs, but I would wager that he'll have negative WAR no matter where he plays. The Cardinals letting him go turned out to be a brilliant move on their part.
