MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I hate the Marlins. They have no true identity. No history. Nobody gives a shit about them. And yet I've seen them win the World Series twice.

Fuckers.

Prior to the 2016 season, Forbes had the Marlins valued at $675M.  So either they were way off, Loria is a salesman or this NY buyer is way overspending.  https://www.forbes.com/pictures/mlm45gdf...861f01734b
They're worth what someone is willing to pay for them.

What NY real estate developer could be that megalomaniacal and bad with money?

As Marlin offer seems way out of line would like some level of detail regarding what's included in valuation and structure prior to additional comment.

A business man from New York is not attempting to buy them at this price.  FAKE!

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

What could possibly go wrong with that sort of highly leveraged deal?

Incredible.

And I already loathe the Marlins. Cardinals clippings are gonna have competition for the lining of the bottom of my cage.

The league released a statement denying any knowledge of a deal or of negotiations taking place for that matter. Imagine Loria and his billionaire asshole friends sitting around scribbling nonsensical offers on the back of cocktail napkins and giggling to each other.

Gross, Trevor Bauer all over twitter showing he's a climate change denier and Trumper.  That dude went to UCLA, just shows you can have some brains and still be a moron.

Brandon McCarthy is fantastic on Twitter. And Bauer is getting absolutely lit up -- it's kind of awesome.

Quote:When asked about the team's problems with defense and base running in 2016, Matheny never really explored the topic. Never really answered the question or acknowledged the defense/running issues. Instead, he sought to play it off by citing his use of so many "young" players. And Matheny criticized the media for, well, I don't know what the media did exactly. My best guess is that we discussed and wrote about the defensive and base running flaws last season. Areas that obviously were harmful to a team that won 86 games and failed to make the playoffs. Keep in mind, Matheny once told me that he considered my use of statistics - facts - to be personal attacks.
