MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Yeah, I'm not embarrassed by this deal in the least.

So were they the mystery team all along or just recently? I'm more interested in learning how this all played out.

And I know that I should be happy that both Prince and Fielder are out of the NL, but at the same time the NL just got a whole lot weaker in the past 18 months. Adrian Gonzalez first and now these two. Part of me doesn't like seeing such a drastic power shift, and then the ensuing meatheads who will talk about how weak the NL is. It gets annoying.

The weaker the NL the better as far as I'm concerned.

You're underestimating the might of Bryan LaHair.

Both Prince and Fielder?

Fuck this I am really glad the Cubs didn't dole out this contract.

We were never really players in the Fielder sweepstakes...

MLB Network throwing out the possibility that locking up Lincecum long term would leave the Giants unable to do the same with Cain. Dunno if there's any truth to it, but that would certainly be nice.

Locking up? My understanding is that it's a 2 year deal for $40 MM. Doesn't look good for Cain but wasn't he already discussing a "hometown discount" to remain a Giant. Maybe Cain works out a super back loaded deal so he and The Freak remain together for a couple of years and Cain locks up bigger money on later years. Keeps Cain off the market and the higher risk candidate Linceum rolls the dice for 2014 and beyond.

Doesn't Cabrera play first for them? Are they just going to have the two of them switching on and off between 1B and DH?
Cabrera moving back over to third from what I hear.
I wonder if that could work out? Logically, it would seem to be a disaster-in-the-making, but Cabrera is a special athlete. Would he be any worse than Aram? Probably not, due to his youth, his previous experience at the position, and his natural reflexes.

Since the Tigers have no DH this year, it seems crazy though.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Well, Prince and Fielder are also the names of each of his big fat man boobs. Fucking egomaniac!
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Oops, I meant Prince and Pujols. Long day today...

The Tigers can afford to do this with the benefit of the DH. I wish we all had that option.

Or it never existed.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

The lack of a DH had no impact on the Cubs not pursuing Prince. We had a vacancy at 1B.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]
