MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Quote:Looks like Cashner scratched from his next start.  Wonder if there is anyone left who still prefers him to Rizzo.
The only guy who did, just got fired.

There were a ton of SD people (both informed and not so much) calling into MLBN radio this morning claiming Cashner would be the first to be traded now that Byrnes is out. He would have been a great piece to deal for multiple prospects to help the rebuilding efforts. This injury won't help his value.

We should trade for him.

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

We could start by offering them Olt, Villanueva and Beeler plus a high-upside PTBNL if he stays healthy. Is that too much or too little?

Since he got to the Padres:

1.067 WHIP at Petco

1.285 WHIP on the road

He became a full-time starter for the Padres in 2013:

2013: .573 Opp. OPS at Petco / .689 Opp. OPS on the road

2014: .509 Opp. OPS at Petco / .751 Opp. OPS on the road

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

The 2013 splits don't scare me, but the 2014 stats are alarming. Oh well, this is all just pure fantasy talk as the chances of this FO even considering a trade at this time are remote at best.

These are the stats that concern me about Cashner.

17-25 career record. No thanks. We need to acquire winners and not losers.

I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Purple for sarcasm?

Lincecum has a no-no through 8.

And now through all 9.

Add this to the Padres' wretchedness. No-hit by a fading Lincecum two years in a row.

I'll never get over Hendry not signing Lincecum and trading Hamilton.

Hamilton doesn't really count.

Exactly.  Why do people continue to perpetuate this idea that the Cubs "gave up" Hamilton.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.
