MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)

They cut in on MLB to watch him...and yes, he hit it. And yes, he made McCutchon look dumb. But tell me Mr. Baker, Dude, Bro...what the fuck are you doing bringing in a prized, young, rumored to be hurting a bit arm when you are down 9-1? This kid has no chance with Duster.

I'm glad he's throwing 106. Keep it up. And keep throwing him out on the mound, Dusty.

His arm will be shredded in no time.

Apparently there have been claims that other radar guns showed him throwing 101 not 106. Still crazy though.

That's the first I have really paid attention to him and yes, it's crazy and hitters just can't catch up to it. But, it's just a matter of time until it blows out. Unless of course he is a robot.

Reds lost again. It's pretty funny to think that we're only half a game out of 1st. What a shitty division.

No, not shitty. Competitive.

It would be nice if we could just not play again and let everybody else lose.

Shitty and competitive.

So the Angels DFA'd Brandon Wood. I understand he has been absolutely horrible in his time in the majors. However, he is still only 26. Would it be worth it for the Cubs to see if they could get him and put him in AAA for organizational depth? Maybe the guy just needs a change of scenery. I wouldn't give up anything of any value for him, but it seems like a move that is a no lose situation. If he sucks, so what. If he somehow learns to hit and cut down his K rate a lot then he could be useful.

What's the downside to just seeing what a change of scenery might do for him?

I'd imagine a bad team with a hole at 3B would be willing to give him a major league deal.

I could see the Cards taking a chance on him and turning him into an All-Star somewhere in their infield. They're due for one of those genius moves.

Have you taken a look at what Fat Elvis has been doing?

I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

Shit, I just looked at his stats for the first time. Let's just hope his horrible defense eventually affects his offense soon.

I doubt he'll keep slugging close to .700 for very long though. His OBP is actually down a bit from his usual levels.
