<!--quoteo(post=140212:date=Apr 15 2011, 04:39 PM:name=KBwsb)-->QUOTE (KBwsb @ Apr 15 2011, 04:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->The biggest difference is that Fielder is exactly 2 years younger. That's HUGE, because we're taking about the kind of body-types (Gonz too...3 career stolen bases) that don't age well.
Yes, Gonz is a superior hitter and defender, but the difference isn't enough to cancel out the 2-year age gap. Prince will get paid. I'd bet his contract will top Gonz's.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Especially if/when he is the only FA 1B available after the Tards cave in and sign Pujols to a financially crippling deal. I could easily see an AL team blowing everyone out of the water on an 8-10 year deal.

I know that'll mean we have a serious need for a 1st baseman, but I don't want to give Fielder that contract.

If both Pujols and Prince are available next winter, we sure as hell better sign one of the them. Both have their faults, but anytime a very rich team can upgrade a position from "bad" to "best in league" overnight, and without giving up prospects, it has to be done.
It'll be a very clear litmus test for Ricketts. Either he's a mensch or he's a bush-leaguer, and there's no in between.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

The White Sox stuggles are continuing. 0-5 loss to the Rays today
Haven't been listening to the radio lately...has Guillen blown up during any press conferences? Besides the blown saves one a few weeks ago.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Jake Peavy (shoulder) left Monday's minor league rehab start with Double-A Birmingham with discomfort.
Bad news. Peavy was knocked around pretty good in the first inning Monday, giving up three runs on four hits, and was pulled after throwing just 15 pitches. He'll be re-examined Tuesday, after which we'll know more about his status moving forward.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That's a shame
