MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I can't believe he's already got 7 homeruns.

Yeah... he's going to have an insane season I think. And he's the best defensive SS on top of that. He's the early(yes, it's very early I know) MVP favorite. If the Rockies win the West, I bet he wins th award.

Ugh. 4 homers in 4 straight games. They won game 1 of the doubleheader today and are tied now... believe their record with a win would go to 10-2.

And Casey Coleman pitching at Coors worries the shit out of me. He pitches to contact, and with the huge dimensions there, that's not good. We need to win tomorrow.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'm looking forward to being really drunk by the time that game is over with. Are you going this weekend? We're sitting in Section 158 Saturday night. Still have to get my tickets for Sunday.

Could be a big season for Long Beach State guys. Tulo the NL MVP favorite, and Weaver has a great shot at the AL Cy Young. Longoria is hurt, however.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

I'm not sure yet. I have a bad feeling about this series. If I go I'll let you know though.

My guess is Prince's is slightly cheaper. I don't think his defense (or offense, for that matter) is as good as AG's and plenty of teams will be concerned about his weight, long-term.

Yeah, Prince isn't quite as good as Adrian offensively(in my opinion at least), and certainly not defensively. Adrian is a Gold Glove guy and Prince has future DH written all over him.

But, who knows... that's just me saying who deserves what. When you hit the free agent market, it can become a major bidding war, and if Pujols stays with St. Louis, Prince's price could rise a lot with a weak free agent class.

You make a valid point. Fielder is going to be making A-Rod dollars.

The biggest difference is that Fielder is exactly 2 years younger. That's HUGE, because we're taking about the kind of body-types (Gonz too...3 career stolen bases) that don't age well.

Yes, Gonz is a superior hitter and defender, but the difference isn't enough to cancel out the 2-year age gap. Prince will get paid. I'd bet his contract will top Gonz's.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
