MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
And really? Nobody brought up how the Cardinals lost on a dropped flyball from Rasmus last night?

Isn't that the second late-inning, crushing loss in 2 days for the Tards? Fuck yeah. I don't get how Rasmus dropped that ball...was he trying to catch it off his hip?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Most of the Central has looked like garbage thus far.

It's a very competitive division.

Guess when you all suck it does make it competitive.

Tampa is pretty terrible.

Anyone watching the Tampa-Red Sox game? Sam Fuld homered (!). Good to see him getting some playing time. Dice-k really has sucked lately.

Who announces these ESPN games? The play-by-play guy is fine, but the color guy reeks. He's obviously a dim-witted ex-ballplayer, but I don't recognize the voice. Is it Sutcliffe? Talk about the Peter Principle.

Fucking ump just blew a call at 3rd... Padres were safe, called out. Would've been 1st and 3rd with no outs in a game they're losing 3-2 vs the Reds in the 8th.

God I love MLB Extra Innings. Saw the 8th and 9th of tonight's Blue Jays-M's game... incredible stuff.

M's were down 7-0 at one point, and at least 7-1 when I turned it on in the 8th. Blue Jays walked in 3 straight runs to make it 7-4.

Next batter is Justin Smoak, gets a full count, and then a 2-run single, 7-6.

Next batter is Miguel Olivo with 1 out and a runner on 2nd. Groundball to the left side. Announcer's call : "BASE HIT! Ah... no. Double play."

7-6 in the bottom of the 9th, and Michael Saunders(who I know Scarey's brought up in the past) ropes a double down the right field line to start the inning.

Next batter is Brendan Ryan(who the Cards released before the season), who lays down a sacrifice bunt.

So runner on 3rd with 1 out. Adam Kennedy batting, grounds to short, but the runner from 3rd couldn't advance. So 2 outs.

Ichiro up. Pitcher falls behind him in the count, finally the Blue Jays just intentionally walk him. So they put the winning run(who happens to be incredibly fast) on 1st because they didn't want to face Ichiro.

Next batter is Luis Rodriguez. Incredible at bat with him fouling off tough pitches like crazy(a bit like the one Starlin had late).

Somewhere in there, Ichiro steals 2nd without a throw. So now the winning run is at 2nd.

After a bunch of pitches, Rodriguez finally puts the ball in play, into deep right-center(with Corey Patterson playing shallow due to the situation), for a game-winning 2-run "single".

Incredible game, and what an incredible bullpen implosion from the Blue Jays. It's nice to see horrible games like that from other teams as a Cubs fan.

Things like that are easier to stomach when you don't have a stake in the game ha.

Heard this fun stat on MLB Network earlier today...as of last night, David Ortiz is the only active player with a triple in each of the last 12 seasons.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

Injured on a headfirst slide at home, tagging from 3rd base on a foul popup to the third baseman... I'm guessing the 3rd base coach will catch some heat.
