MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
What's the over/under for the date of his first stint on the 15 day-day-disabled list?

Edmonds is to Cards as Ojeda is to Cubs?

It's sad that Eric Chavez is now a non-roster invitee(with Yankees). He was right there among the top 3 third basemen in baseball for a long time, and not too long ago. Injuries have killed him. That dude could pick it at 3rd base.

It's a shame McPhail didn't make a serious run at him when he was in our front office and Vlad was in his prime. Figures he'd be all over him on the downside of his career. I fucking hate that pencil dick.

The O's should have an interesting line-up, although some places and positions may be different from what I have here:

1. Roberts 2B
2. Jones CF
3. Markakis RF
4. Guerrero DH
5. Scott LF
6. Lee 1B
7. Reynolds 3B
8. Wieters C
9. Izturus SS

Now, if their pitching weren't so shitty . . .

If they had more than one legitimate starter that might be pretty good.

Eh. I'd say they're at least close. Probably not equal, but close.

2B - a proper platoon, and the Cubs trail slightly.
CF - Byrd has actually had better numbers than Jones over the last three years; I'd say this is close to equal
RF - Markakis is better than Fuku/Colvin, but it's much closer than you might think; Fuk is his equal defensively, and Markakis has but an .800ish OPS over the past two years
DH - Cubs don't get one, so you can't really count that in favor of the O's
LF - Scott is clearly better than Alf, but he also plays a whole lot less (and gets favorable matchups as a lefty) - he's been a borderline platoon player the last three years
1B - it's a push, at worst; both sucked (relatively) last year, but Pena's three years younger - I'd put my money on Pena having the better year
now come the Cubs wins, hands down:
3B - Aramis is clearly superior to Reynolds
C - Soto is perhaps the most underrated offensive catcher in baseball, and Wieters was perhaps one of the most overrated (sorry Kabes)
SS - the Red Sox would never have any interest in having Izturis

I was being sarcastic, but I definitely think that they have a very solid lineup. The whole AL East is scary good offensively. Honestly, the Rays could have the most vanilla lineup in the division now. That said, I think it finishes Sox-Yanks-Rays-Jays-O's.

That O's lineup may set some kind of strikeout record, but they will score some runs.
Ace, this will be Weiters breakout year. Or Vitters. one of the two.
