Yesterday on the Score, I think it was Spiegel's dumbass, they were talking about how it was a good thing they went with Ozzie's preferred "Ozzie ball" method this year. Seriously does anyone think that's how they're winning games? They've had good pitching and they are still home run driven. It's incredible how mythological the Kenny Williams/Guillen administration has gotten amongst Chicago sports analysts. Give me a break.

It's completely ridiculous. Just because they let Thome and Dye go, and added a bunch of weak-hitting has-beens like Pierre and Teahen didn't transform them into the 1986 Cardinals.

The Sox are 4th in the AL in HR and only 8th in OBP. Hardly the slapp-hitting, speed-driven offense from Ozzie's wet dreams.

Only seventh in the league in total offense. Once again they've feasted on garbage teams this year. They've yet to face either the Yankees or the Red Sox, and I'm fairly certain they've only seen the Rays once.

After they swept the M's last week my ex was talking about how she sees seeds of '05. Lol...they lost three of four to the Twins then dropped two of three to the A's prior to that. Apparently beating the worst team in the American League counts for quite a bit these days.

They're going to win their division. Of that I am certain. They've just had way too much go their way, gotten such strong pitching, and seem impervious to any obstacles (injuries, piss-poor start, Ozzie's and Kenny's constant supply of bullshit), but when they get to the playoffs they will get bludgeoned by the Yanks / Rays. At least I hope they will. I won't hold my breath though.

I think you're probably right, but I think the Twins will go neck and neck with them. I hate that I talk about them as much as I do, but I can't help it. I know waaaay too many Sox fans for some reason.

The Twins have managed to hang tough with the Sox even through their ridiculous winning streak (and took 3 of 4 from them when they met last). I still have hope that the Twins will deal them some heartbreak.

Yeah and just when the Twins could squeak past them they get the Rays while the Sox get the Tigers. Typical.

I hope so, and there isn't a manager that I would love to win a pennant more than Gardenhire. I find it interesting out the Garza for Young trade has really panned out for both teams.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

They still play 9 games against each other. Those games could easily determine who wins the division.

I think once they hit the Yanks and the Rays, the idiots expounding their greatness in this town are going to get a serious reality check.

Still. Even I have to admit that their rise into first place has been amazing. They were in the same position as us when we faced them in the crosstown series. They've gone on an absolute tear since then and we've just gotten shittier.

I'll agree it is. But looking over their schedule just now, they did not do much more than split with any remotely decent teams. To their credit, they've won the games they should have and that's been instrumental in putting them where they're at.
