I'm not sure what the Sox could possibly give up to get Dunn. Their farm system blows.

Yep, and I've heard names like Hudson, Flowers and even Floyd and Beckham tossed around as the type of talent DC would want in return. And that seems like quite a bit for a 2 month rental, given the lack of talent in the rest of their system. But, hey, Kenny won't rest until he wins another championship.

So all the reports indicate that the Yanks are close to landing Cliff Lee. I was hoping either the Tigers or Twins would instead.
Yawn.

The yankees are giving up Montero in this deal, which is pretty stunning.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

That only makes sense to them if they lock up Lee long-term.

I don't hate the Yankees, but really? Cliff Lee? If they weren't already a favorite to win again, then they certainly are now.

So, I'm also guessing that Vazquez's (2nd) time in NY will be short. There's an unexpected development.

Apparently Chicago sports media was wrong in thinking the Sox had a chance at Lee lol. What exactly would they have had to get him? Nothing.

From most reports out of NY, it looks as though Lilly would be the next in line to go once the Lee deal goes down, and most likely to the Mets. I guess they covet those LHPs on the East Coast.

Apparently Oswalt has no interest in waiving his no-trade clause to go to the White Sux or Tigers. If the Cubs were even modestly decent, I'd be all for trying to get him, but alas.... we suck.
I got nothin'.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Update, 4:10 p.m.: The New York Post, which first reported the Cliff Lee-to-the-Yankees trade this morning, now is saying the deal could be dead. According to the Post, the Mariners have backed away from proposed trade, though it's unclear if there is a disagreement over who the Mariners would receive or if another team (or more) has made a new offer.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This might turn out to be a good thing if we can get both the Yankees and Mets interested in Lilly.
