Amen to that. Would you want Britton? It'd be another short-term purchase of a reliever, but might be worth it because where the hell else would the Cubs upgrade?

Britton scares me a little given the big decline in velocity post-injury, but I would still be happy to have him as an 7th/8th inning guy.

I mean...yeah, the executive functioning, prefrontal cortex stuff at that age isn't yet fully formed as it would be for someone 25,26--adult brains and teen brains do work differently.  There is that.

 

And I admire the shit out of people who are pretty much raised to be a certain way, be it racist or abusive or hunters or whatever and they figure out for themselves that they don't want to be that, they change and evolve and do not pass that shit down to their kids. Those people are kind of heroes to me.

 

But I also really see Butch's point. 

 

And I more admire the people who figure that stuff out but the time they are 17, not by the time they are 27.

 

Fact is though, that I look highly upon both groups and I can't say what group I'd be if I was raised to be one of those things. I'd like to think that I couldn't be those things--sure feels like I have a disposition where I couldn't be them-- but would I be in the before 17 or 27 group?  Obviously I can't know.

 

If this guy really has changed then props to him--for real.  If he hasn't then fuck him...for now.
