MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
And now Hill is on the verge of getting yanked.

So there's a pretty decent chance (probably at least 25%) that things will shake out that the Tigers have to play a makeup game on Monday just to decide whether there will be a 3-team or even 4-team AL WC tiebreaker.

You could legitimately end up with something like:

Monday - Indians @ Tigers makeup game

Tuesday & Wednesday - 3 or 4 team AL WC tiebreaker

Thursday - AL WC game (currently scheduled for Tuesday)

That seemed unnecessary, but I'm glad it happened.

It's the right move. You have no idea what the guy is going to do, and maybe it will discourage future asshats from running on the field.

Cards win. Giants win. Mets win.

With this performance, I don't think the NL Cy Young winner is going to be a cub unfortunately

The Nats have clinched the 2nd seed, so the only thing that will be up for grabs tomorrow in the NL will be the 2nd WC spot.

Cardinals force a game 163 with a win and a Giants loss.  If either of those things don't happen, Giants clinch.

Doesn't this seem like a mistake?

I get wanting to play WC tiebreaker at home.  But wouldn't you rather have 2 chances to make WC game, even if both on the road, rather than just 1 at home?  Plus, that means they would only play to be the WC2 and have to play the WC game itself on the road if they won the tiebreaker.

Here’s what’s settled going into Sunday:

NL

#1 – Cubs

#2 – WSH

#3 – LAD

WC1 – NYM

SF has clinched a tie for WC2.

AL

#1 – TEX

BOS & CLE have clinched divisions.

TOR & BAL have clinched ties for a WC spot.

Here’s what’s left to be decided:

NL WC2

SF ---

STL -1

SF: Clinch WC2 with win or STL loss.

STL: Clinch tiebreaker game with win & SF loss.

AL #2 seed

CLE ---

BOS -0.5

(BOS holds tiebreaker)

CLE: Clinch #2 seed with win & BOS loss.

BOS: Clinch #2 seed with win & CLE loss.

If CLE & BOS both win or both lose, #2 seed depends on CLE/DET makeup game Monday.

AL Wild Card

TOR  ---

BAL ---

DET -1.5

(TOR holds tiebreaker vs. BAL)

TOR: Clinch WC1 with: (1) win; OR (2) BAL loss & any DET loss. Clinch WC2 with any DET loss.

BAL: Clinch WC1 with win & TOR loss. Clinch WC2 with: (1) win; OR (2) any DET loss.

DET: Clinch tiebreaker game(s) with: (1) win; (2) loss by TOR and/or BAL; & (3) win vs. CLE in makeup game.
