So apparently these are the caps for this year's all star BP day & HR derby.
This will pick at some scabs.

You might remember a jersey logo that looked like:

I understand the idea. Who the fuck signed off on all the teams wearing Padres colors, let alone that vintage?

This is the 3rd straight year they've made the hats themed to an old design of the host team.
2014 (based on an old Twins hat):
2015 (based on the Reds old pillbox hats):
Those were bad. These are much worse.

Ugh. Probably too much precedent to get around it, then.

Maybe someday the ASG will be at Citi Field and the Red Sox will be asked to wear an '86 Mets-based design.

It was at Citi Field in 2013, the year before they started this trend.
There will probably be an ASG at Wrigley in the next 5 years after all the renovations are done. I'm trying to think what they could even use. The Cubs haven't really had a unique hat design. Maybe something with pinstripes?

These are all of the league-mandated special event caps the Cubs will wear this year.

I hate them all, and don't get the ASG cap.

I found this description:
"Caps will have team-colored crowns with gold-outlined team logos, gray brims, gold star-shaped eyelets, and gold stars flanking the MLB logo on the back."
That's doesn't look like Cubbie blue and the "C" should be red.

Can we just ban camo anything forever? And those Padres themed caps are an abomination. Hopefully no one buys them.

Quote:From MLBTR:

Former
White Sox
first baseman
Adam LaRoche
, who retired amidst a storm of controversy in Spring Training, has an outlook different than that of most ballplayers,
ESPNs Tim Keown writes. Now that LaRoche has stepped away from his big-league career after a disagreement with his front office about the presence of his son in his teams clubhouse, hes planning a lengthy RV trip with his family to the Pacific Northwest. LaRoche also stars in a reality show (
Buck Commander) and owns a meat company. And improbably, in November, he joined with Brewers pitcher
Blaine Boyer
and a nonprofit to try to travel to Southeast Asia to go undercover to try to save underage sex slaves.
Something huge happened there for us, says Boyer.
You cant explain it. Cant put your finger on it. If you make a wrong move, youre getting tossed off a building.
Did I read that right?

I read the ESPN article. That entire section troubled me. What exactly did LaRoche and Boyer do in Southeast Asia, which BTW isn't a country, other than provide "surveillance" of underage sex slaves for some Christian activist group? Sounds really fishy to me.
