MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Wow. That seems very un-Marlin-like.

So how soon do they unload him after signing that deal?

I don't entirely get what they are doing now. Just a couple years removed from one of their let's dump everything off seasons, and now they are trying to do this deal.
Signature.

I don't get it either.  What purpose does it serve if the rest of the team sucks?  Are they banking on lucking out and getting some good drafts?  Makes no sense to me.

It sounds as if they are trying to sign Fernandez long terms also.  I'm not sure going 12 years on ANY player is worth it.

Word on the street is that Loria is locking up expensive talent to help sell the team by next year. Sam Zell 101.

I support whatever keeps him from retiring a Yankee.

Going through life without a name must be difficult.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

They now have names. Crisis averted.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals just got Jason Heyward from the Braves for Shelby Miller.

I don't like that news one bit.

Stanton's contract has A-Rod written all over it.  I'm not saying he's going to have steroid issues, but I believe 5-6 years from now, the team owning that contract is going to be pissed off paying as much as they do for the production they're going to receive.

I got nothin'.

Vizcaino trade was part of a larger deal just not part of a deal involving the Cubs.

Appeared that Miller was out of favor in St Louis. Not happy with Heyward as a Card.
