MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Fortunately they wiped off most of the goo.

The first picture makes it look much worse due to the dried blood that ran down his face.  Looks like he got a pretty good cut on his lip and probably destroyed some teeth.

I got nothin'.

Braves fire GM Frank Wren.

Will one of the Cubs GMs in waiting be interviewed/hired?

I think they'll stick with Coppolella

Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod are the first names that come to mind from Cubs front office who might be targeted by other organizations.

Jed is already the official GM but with Theo as President of Baseball Ops, many would see Theo as the GM and Jed the next man in authority.

This makes zero sense with respect to Jed Hoyer.  First, Hoyer left a job where he was the GM, without seemingly really being second in command like he appears to be to Theo, to come and be GM with the Cubs and answer to Theo, so there is no reason to believe he is looking to get out of Theo's shadow.  Second, it would be the same thing in Atlanta where he would answer to Schuerholz, who was GM for the Braves from 1990-2007.

McLeod is a different question.  Of course, McLeod turned down an opportunity to interview to be GM in San Diego and just signed an extension.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Again, I really feel they're going to stay in house.  Coppolella is more than capable.

Definitely agree that Capolella is the front runner, but then again with Hart running the search he may also give serious consideration to outside candidates who could shake things up. It may be needed after the past few seasons.

Fuck Jeter, can't wait to see the trainwreck that is Alex Rodriguez at SS next year.

Possible Yankees rain out tonight. How cool would that be?

Jeter is a HOF'er.  With that he deserves a little respect.  That said, there have been better players that have retired over our lifetimes and they didn't receive nearly the ticker-tape parade Jeter has received.  I'm guessing MLB pushed this and his NYY roots make it much, much bigger than it had to be.  But in another week, we won't have to worry about it any longer and we can get back to bitching about something else.

I got nothin'.

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.
