Quote:One of the craziest sequences I've ever seen. Stanton gets nailed in the face, bleeds all over home plate and is carted off. The 1B ump calls that he swung at the pitch and makes it strike 2.
After the game finally continues, on the very next pitch, the pitch goes up and in on Reed Johnson who pinch hits for Stanton. The ball either hits his hand or the bat. But the ump again says Johnson swung at it and they call it strike 3.
Meanwhile, Casey McGehee is on deck and starts screaming at the 1B umpire. The pitcher, who is clearly distraught after hitting Stanton, thinks McGehee is screaming at him and starts screaming back. The benches clear. McGehee gets thrown out. After realizing they called it a swing, Mike Redmond gets thrown out.
Watched all the replays on deadspin...insane.

Also, at the risk of stating the obvious, that did NOT look good for Stanton.

So I guess we won't be trading for him now?

Agreed, it really makes me feel terrible for both parties. Fiers must be a wreck right now.

Oh, my. Wash could be in hot water.
Quote:Did Roger Goodell cover this up too? I have learned this evening through a source with knowledge of the situation that long-time Texas Rangers skipper Ron Washingtons sudden departure from the club was due to impending legal issues stemming from an alleged sexual assault of a reporter. I have cross-checked this information and feel confident in going forward with what I know, and am currently reaching out to obtain more details of the situation. Please follow our official Twitter account at @TweetTheScoop for details as I get them.

It appeared Fiers was pretty distraught about the beaning. It was pretty clearly not on purpose. I'm sure the next batter he hit wasn't on purpose either. I think hitting Stanton rattled him pretty good.
I got nothin'.

When he thought McGehee was screaming at him and he screamed back, it look like he might start crying.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

O's could be in trouble losing Chris Davis for remainder of year and into playoffs - 25 game ban, first time drug offseason for stimulants.
Have a difficult time believing that he couldn't find a physician to give him a prescription for Adderall which he previously had taken and was prescribed.
He was average around a K per game but has 26 HRs this year.

I was watching the game and I told someone that Roenicke should have taken him out. You could tell while Stanton was on the ground that Fiers was definitely shaken up. It wasn't surprising that the next pitch got away.

I'm skeptical of Davis in general. He was a failed Rangers prospect up until he found new life in Baltimore a few years ago. Now he's back to being a very flawed player. Then this happens. I don't trust him.

Looking at his stats, his 2014 season was fairly in line with 2012 for HRs and RBIs but he's leading the league in K's. Funny but he's almost doubled his BBs from 2012. Guessing that pitchers limited what they would throw him and he either went fishing or lost bat speed or bit of both.
Haven't followed him but it's hard not to love his 2013 stats - 286 / 370 / 634 with 53 HR and 138 RBIs.

Anybody know this guy?
Quote:A Norway man known for his love of Norway baseball and the Chicago Cubs, his willingness to share unique posts on Facebook and involvement in conservative political causes died in a "Race 'em or Wreck 'em" event at Hawkeye Downs Speedway on the evening Saturday, Sept. 13. John "JP" Pickart, 68, was racing in an RV when another driver collided with him during Saturday's school bus-RV race sanctioned by B & B Promotions, which rented the track for the event.
