MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Issue is that the trade may resemble what the Cubs eventually receive for Soriano.

Red Sox saved about $3 MM in salary and got back crap.

Youk is most likely done. He just can't seem to stay healthy and the Saux had little to no leverage in negotiations so it wasn't that the Saux would receive much. One way to assess the deal is to review how much cash was involved in excess of amount that Saux were scheduled to pay. Youk played about 50% of the season and his contract pays him $8.1 MM so anything under the Pale Hose pay $4.05 MM is their discount. The Saux will pay the Pale Hose an additional $1.5 MM in salary to have the Youk play for them in return for a reliever who just got sent to AAA and a journeyman infielder who can't hit his way out of a paper bag. Would think that $1.5 MM gets you more than that in this market but then again Kenny is a genius.

Funny thing is he was so much smaller this year than in years past and he obviously was fucking terrible. But, this news does not surprise me one bit.

You wonder if he became desperate after shedding all that weight, or if he shrank after going cold turkey off the roids, and went back on them. Sad, but I'm not at all surprised. Hopefully the Red Sox don't come to us asking for Michael Bowden back. <img src='http://www.sonsofivy.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

They could have had him when he passed through waivers. Sadly.

Did anyone see Chapman's somersaults after his save the other night? What a douche...

So it wasn't a total loss.

Don't know what the organization would expect from a 37? year old arm but i've heard about Cards legendary ability to rejuvenate careers - ahem PEDs, cough PEDs - so you never know

Gives you an idea of what Soriano is going to fetch.
I got nothin'.

Those two were highly regarded prospects when drafted, but just never panned out. They're still young enough where they have some value, but I would actually expect to receive much less for Soriano given the length of his contract. I'm still hopeful.

Didn't Lee just turn down a trade to the Dodgers? He'd rather go to the Marlins?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Apparently Miami is closer to his cattle farm in Texas, so he didn't mind the inconvenience of moving there. Still, didn't he and Ozzie separate on bad terms in his Sox days or was that Magglio? This could be an interesting reunion.

The Rizzo trade gets better by the day, but I feel dirty for being happy about it.
