SOI 2009 Draft
#31
And you guys wonder whats wrong with 'your league'.
I'll never trade again with the guys that screwed me this year and without any commishes who at least try to overlook things...I guess it is time to let this league die also.
Its really a shame.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

For the record, I didn't actually screw you. We didn't get far enough into the draft for you to pick my draft pick.

Also, don't make too big a deal out of this. You should eventually get the picks you actually picked. Also, this is the worst the draft has ever been, and I think the combination of the holiday weekend and the change over from the old board to the new had something to do with it.

Actually, now that I'm looking at it I don't think any of the people that owed you picks got to even have their selections. If that's your beef, then I understand. But I don't see how you can be upset directly at me or Johnr.

It sucks Cap, but I just think a combination of things destroyed this draft. Not so much the league, but the draft. I didn't do great with sticking with it when I started it, so I think I'm more to blame then anyone.

If you want compensation, I'm prepared to offer a fair package.

I keep trying to abandon the "commish" title, because I haven't functioned as the commish in seasons. I want to keep my team (in case CSBB ever comes around, or I get more free time), but I just don't have the time or energy to do anything with it right now.

Scarey...my only real beef is that noone preset there picks once they knew they werent gonna get a pick in the 'live draft'. So I traded away good players and got shit in return. Its the same for 2nd and even 3rd rd picks. I was under the assumption that if someone traded those picks they would do the right thing and prerank the best availabe players. Not that big of deal now though. Live and learn.

Ace...maybe your league needs some new blood to run it. If noone else steps up to take it...I'll do it. I can think of alot of other guys that should if they could, but I'm just offering to try and save it for now.

If you're willing, it's all you, Cap. I've been trying to get someone to take the reigns for months.

To be fair, we've had problems where we didn't finish up the second round before and we never had people prerank. Maybe it should have been done especially in this case since we didn't even finish the first round, but it's just never really been done.

Add to that the fact that I don't think anyone actually knows how to prerank these guys. This is the first draft where the prospects were influenced by scouting. I personally have $0 in any kind of scouting right now, so I don't think it would have mattered if I preranked or not.

I am controlling the Nutjobs right now and I will accept the proposed trade.

Additionally...Ace, I am going to propose a trade to you for the pick that I owe you from the Deweese deal.

Also, I will be able to help with commish duties after the 1st of the year, not until then though.

Bump for Mikey. Make me an offer. I've tried to figure out one to get you Nichols and Goodin but all of your guys look like they have some value so I'm not sure who you want to trade as scraps to get your picks.
