The value that they applied to Bradley for his production last year was $18 million.

I didn't see that article, but it sounds sort of...unscientific, for lack of a better word. What's the average player's "value?" What constitutes "production?" What is a guy like Pujols worth, dollar-wise?

It's hard to imagine that a DH who only played in 126 games would be at the top of the dollar value-scale. Like Butch inferred, Pujols must've been worth $35 Mil, using that scale.

Still, Ol' Milty did lead the AL in OBP, which means that when he did suit up, he was a darn valuable player.

I really hope he makes the team, but if he does, that means we'll have no typical "utility" guy, no actual back-up for Theriot at SS, etc., so it's a bit of a risk. I guess we could just use Miles at SS...not exactly a move that a WS contender should probably do, but it'll work in a pinch.

hoffpauir is going to be the back up firstbaseman and corner outfielder. it's pretty much a done deal. unless hoffpauir completely tanks (and so far thats not remotely close to the case) he's on the team. put him on your roster buddy, because he's on the team.

gathright is a defensive replacement, a pinch runner, and a spot starter. nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not. I was just pointing out how absurd it was to infer that Jim had absolutely ZERO to do with our Corey-Neifi 1-2 punch...as if a team's GM is totally powerless, and completely at the whim of his manager.
