Milton Bradley and Cubs agree to deal?

Yep, Bradley shouldn't be making as much money as that guy.

Yup, if you wanna measure a guy's worth in RBI's, Bradley's not even close to Ibanez

Hard to believe -- especially for a guy who can't stay on the field. And especially in this market.

It really shows you how valuable DeRosa was at his pricetag. He was making $5.5M and he's durable. And versitile.

I just hope he can find a way to not get hurt.

I'm with you. It's not my money and 1-2 mil per year, isn't going to mean shit in the long run. I think Bradley was Hendry's target all along and he got him, all you can really ask for.

Now get this ownership BS done and let's get Peavy.

Except that 1-2 mil clearly means *something* -- at least this season -- as we're currently forced to pinch every penny right now to get deals done.

Yeah, that's no surprise really... Hendry's had a hard-on for him for a few years now. There sure as hell better be another move coming for the rotation. What's our payroll stand at right now?

If he were making 2-3 million per year too much like Marquis and Strap were, then I guess I'd be pissed about it. At the same time, I'm more angry about the 10-12 million per of dead weight that we're paying for in the form of Fuk than Bradley. I'm not saying that the deal is a bargain, but sometimes you have to pay up.

The payroll, minus Marquis, with Vizcaino, and with the 1 mill we are evidently sending Colorado is 120.6 mill for the guys we have under contract. Not counting Bradley. I AM counting Bako in here, although he's technically not signed and it could be a minor league deal as it is......

We also have Gregg, Wuertz, and Cedeno heading for paydays. AZ PHIL says 6.5 mill for the 3 of them combined and I agree it will most likely be in that area......

Then, you have to add the guys who aren't arbitration eligible yet: Soto, Theriot, Marshall, Marmol, Fontenot, Guzman and possibly Hoffpauir......These guys will all make at least 400K and probably a tad more in most cases. If you give the 6 of them(I fail to see Hoff making the roster, without a trade or two still) 3.5 mill, our current TOTAL major league payroll is 130.6 mill, not counting Bradley......So, it's basically right at the cusp of the 140 limit right now, leaving it to Hendry to get the payroll bump from the new owner to make a splashy type move at this point, like Peavy.......And as far as shedding salary at this point, the only candidates I see left are Wuertz, Cedeno, and Vizcaino. Which could technically save 6 mill, if we don't pick up ANY salary in dumping any of those guys.

And I don't disagree that. It's the fact that Ibanez and Burrell, 2 guys that could decline in that time but at least we'll play about everyday and produce solid numbers no matter what are getting the same deals or less. I bet you're right about the Nats, and I certainly can't see Milton being one to give a nice fair deal just because he wants to play somewhere.

It's also like somebody else said... look who we are. If we're any other franchise, I might not be as worried about this. It didn't work out for him in Montreal, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Diego, and it's all of a sudden going to be fine on the Chicago fucking Cubs? When has anything like this EVER worked in our favor? Between his injury history, his anger issues, and the fact that we get less good breaks than any sports franchise ever, I can't see this working out too well.
