If anyone is interested in a keeper swap I am looking to deal Soriano for a starting pitcher.

How would everyone feel about setting the draft order before keepers need to be selected? ESPN does the draft order randomly, and I think we should keep it that way rather than rewarding tanking, but would people like to know where they're picking at before they have to select their keepers? Personally, I think it would influence my keeper decisions, and thought that it might be nice to know.

bumping because that newbie bastard AlexV posted at the same time as me, and I want people to weigh in on this.

So are you advocating a reverse order type thing? A worst to first, or just opening it up for discussion.

I'm really up in the air on my 3rd keeper so this would definitely impact my decision as well.

No not at all... I'm just suggesting that we set the draft order, randomly as ESPN does it, before keepers need to be selected.

Works for me. Knowing in advance what my draft position is would definitely my decision.

Also are we allowing draft pick trades? Because that is a another possibility that would greatly increase if we knew where we were drafting in advance.

I don't think draft pick trades are possible given the ESPN setup, and I don't really want to deal with it to be honest.

Yeah draft pick trades would be a huge hassle, but I do like the random draft order and it being set before keepers are selected.

i'm cool with it if everyone else is. hopefully we can go a few years with the same owners and eventually get to the point where we could set the order ahead of time based on the previous season's record, meaning we know the order won't be because of tanking or loss of interest. if it never happens, i'm cool with that too. i just hope i don't get the last pick again.
Life is a bitch, but she's totally doable.

Actually, ESPN does have an option to allow draft pick trades, not sure how it works, but it requires manually setting the draft order, which is what I'd be doing if we were to do the draft order in advance of the keeper deadline... the only other option is to have it randomly selected an hour before the draft.

I wasn't advocating draft pick trades, was just wondering if they were allowed. I can't see myself making one in advance as you'd have no idea who would be on the board.

Perhaps we could limit it in some fashion. Like if you wanted to trade your 1st round pick because you really wanted to move up and grab someone that would be understandable and also not hard to manage since you'd be manually setting the order anyway. But trading 8th rounders and such would just be a pain in the ass.

Well if the system does allow them then I guess that makes it pretty easy, I'm surprised it does, but that's kinda cool.

I'd rather just avoid it for now. We can add it in down the road if people are really interested in doing it. It also has the option to do live auction drafts too, and I've always been interested in a system like that.
