Cubs trade Pie

There's a lot of people not agreeing with Hendry on those comments. I don't get it. Pie and Olsen are practically even. Great numbers in the minors, terrible numbers in the bigs in an overall rather small sample size of big league games. As worst, its an even trade.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

It's because people are delusional about Pie and haven't seen the major holes he has in his game. Just ability wise, he's a great "talent", but so was Corey Patterson. He can't hit an inside fastball, he can't hit a good breaking ball, and he swings at pitches out of the zone. Defensively, he misses the cutoff man all the time and doesn't act like a captain in the outfield. It's possible he fixes some of these things but I wouldn't bet on it. They've been working with him tirelessly and it's made zero difference so far.

Interesting how Hendry brings up the success of Soto and Theriot to try to explain away the fact that Pie is just another in a long line of failures for the Cubs minor league system.

Good...I can't stand the way he pronounces his name.

Unless we use Olson to help us get Peavy, we're gonna end up regretting this deal.

The three things in life Ruby agrees with:

1) Things he says.

2) Things he's done.

3) Nothing done or said by anyone else.

You know ... most people don't pronounce Felix as "Saul"
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena. [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Williamson:
-------------------------------------------W---L---ERA----IP----WHIP
Minor League Totals - 2 Season(s) 2---6---4.00-----90.0---1.13

Olson:
--------------------------------------------W----L-----ERA-----IP----WHIP
Major League Totals - 2 Season(s) 10---13----6.87----165.0----1.82

--------------------------------------------W-----L-----ERA-----IP------WHIP
Minor League Totals - 4 Season(s) 22-----19----2.95----384.1-----1.16

I don't think Williamson has enough innings pitched to say he's the better of the two. Plus, Olson's minor league numbers are way better than Williamson's

The numbers are limited, admittedly, but as a kid he has managed to strike out more than 1 per inning and he doesn't walk people. Garrett Olsen, on the other hand, is a BP pitcher who should be carried to the HR Derby by a participant.

Yeah, I think I like Williamson, but he was like 22/23 in High A when he did it.

Well, technically, the deal we'd be regretting is the signing of Joey Gathright that forced this deal.

I'm gonna guess that Hendry knew that Pie was gonna be gone prior to signing Gathright. I don't think his signing forced the Cubs to do anything they weren't already gonna do.

As a CFer, Pie has potential to be good. As a LFer, he has potential to be mediocre.
