Good.
Just curious, what would happen if a team tells a guy he can't play but he says fuck you I'm playing anyway? Does the team have any control over this?

Nope, Bud Selig made sure all players were free to play if they chose, all a team can do is ask them not to and hope they comply.

Great move. Hopefully Soto can be talked out of the WBC, too.

It's probably a really good idea if we keep our pitchers out, but I think some guys need the play. For instance Kosuke, I think he could benefit from being in comfortable setting and getting the guidance from guys like Ichiro that he needs to get ready.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

I'm not too bothered by position players playing - maybe they can get their eye in before April comes around (especially Fuk etc) - but pitchers, no way, we don't need extra innings on their arms. The Cubs should take them all out.

Yeah, that doesn't bother me so much. ST takes place at the same time, so it isn't that big a deal. Pitching is the problem, because it seems that during ST they go on set schedules of side sessions and short outings. I'm not sure they'd be handled with kid gloves during the WBC, but it's hard to imagine anyone would get overworked either.

Yep. Honestly, I'd almost rather some position players are doing this with how some of them get off to super slow starts. People worry too much about injury. These guys are training like crazy right now anyway. Damaging a pitcher's arm is all that concerns me and still people are way too overprotective about that these days. Now in Marmol's case, yeah, he shouldn't play in this because of how much he's already thrown this winter.

I didn't realise Marmol had been playing this winter. I'm pretty concerned about him having a meltdown this year.

They were talking about this on Boers and Bernstein Monday, I think in reference to a Gammons column. People are worried because he's pitching in the Dominican league, then the WBC then the season. That worries me.

Just saw on the bottom line that Aramis isn't playing for the DR. I believe it said he's not playing due to A-Rod deciding to play.

Yup, it's because of ARod. Who was originally on the U.S. team, but then switched to the DR.

Agreed. Glad he'll be in spring training the whole time.
