Bako agrees to terms with Cubs
#31
I guess I'm with Rok in that I'd rather have had Hill as opposed to Bako - but in the grander scheme of things, a catcher that's going to catch 30 games a year. Neither of them are world beaters at the plate. I'd take Hill based on the fact he's a switch hitter. While Bako is a good defensive backup - I recall in 07 hearing how before games, he'd play catch with the starting pitcher in the OF and talked strategy which the pitchers loved.

In the end, I doubt it will make much of a difference. However if Geo misses any significant time in 09, we'll miss Blanco.

This proves that people arguing sports will debate anything--and do it spiritively. Bako, Hill, Blanco--not gonna make much of a difference.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

True. But what else is there to talk about this week?
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Yeah, that's very true. I can't imagine that anyone feels that strongly about our backup catching situation. I really don't care, but I don't have a problem voicing my preference. I don't hate Bako that much.

ESPN 1000

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Bako's deal is not guaranteed, but becomes guaranteed at the end of March. If he's released before that time, the Cubs must pay Bako 20% of the $750,000 upon his release.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Fair enough.

The Bako is the keymaster of the Mojo.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Cap gets it. This is the only thing, other than the Bradley signing, that I've been excited about this off season.

So basically, Koyie Hill can win the backup job in ST.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Hey--it appears that Cherp is gone--how about getting rid of that signature?

Oh, and why?

1. You outed him--yeah, justifiably so--but you outed him, with a vengeance, with info you gained from his personal contribution to a tribute to Cap's wife. That sucked.

2. Hatred, in it's pure form, is really interesting when it's maintained far longer than anyone else cares about it. Nobody gives a damn about Cherp any more or about his prevarication--other than you. Yeah, Brick hates him, but you are the only one who really keeps this constantly on the surface because of your signature.

3. Also, I can understand your absence due to work issues, personal issues, or any other issues. But it appears to me that you know you've done a few wrong things--disappeared coincidentally with some of them. Why not let that shit just go? Just come back and be your intelligent, funny, self and jettison the crap?

You've always been nice to me. I'm just tired of looking at that picture.
