If only Hendry could have looked into his crystal ball and saw that Soriano would suffer the first 2 real injuries of his career in his first 2 years as a Cub. If he doesn't get hurt in 07 or 08, no one's saying a word about his contract.

And there's nothing you can do about a 95 mph fastball hitting your wrist. Maybe in a few years this deal looks awful but so far he's performed as we expected for the most part.
If he keeps going 1 for 14 in the playoffs, yeah, I'll be pissed.

My memory isn't perfect, but as I recall, I said from day one that it was a horrible, horrible contract. I was glad to have Soriano, but I believe I thought from the moment it went down that it was the worst positional player contract in baseball.
Close seconds are ones like Matthews and Hunter. But they aren't nearly as long.

As Googs pointed out in another thread, the contracts to Vernon Wells, Todd Helton and A-Rod are just as bad.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Stoney was the best baseball teacher I've ever had too...going back to my return to Chicago before the '84 season.
IF Brenly ever goes back to managing, the best thing Ricketts could do for me is mend fences with Steve and get him back on the premise that then was then and now is now...I'd love to have him back in the booth doing analysis with Len doing the call.

Look, if you can't understand the point of comparing the Cubs leadoff hitter, second batter, and backup second basemen's RBI totals to Dunn, well then I can't really help you.

The thing is, not only are his posts completely lacking in terms of logic or wit or originality, he writes as if English is his 2nd language. He's really got nothing.

I've read that first sentence five times and I still have no idea what he was trying to say.
I think hanging around Hawk too much has sloughed off a few IQ points.
