Wuertz to the A's

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->12:32pm: According to a press release from the Cubs, they've sent Wuertz to the A's for minor leaguers Richie Robnett and Justin Sellers. Given all the additions to Oakland's farm system, neither player ranked in their Baseball America top 30 list this year.

In BA's 2008 Handbook, Robnett, a 25 year-old outfielder, ranked 15th among A's prospects. He was said to have "huge raw power," but that hasn't come through in his minor league numbers.

Sellers, a 23 year-old infielder, ranked 14th in the '08 Handbook. He was described as "a solid-average defender who'll hit at the bottom of a lineup."<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

As I expected, but earlier than I expected. We're ridding ourselves of the annoying dumbass pussies.

This makes no sense. Wuertz is not terrible. I imagine he'd be worth more that two scrubs.

I always liked Wuertz. He got kind of a raw deal last year from everyone I think, but either way he is out of options and we don't have a spot for him. Not much we could do other than dump him.

Scouts must have just been infatuated with his guns.

Not much to get excited about.

I hope those puds aren't gonna take spots on our 40 man roster.

Terrible prospects, but then again Wuertz was very unreliable in the pen and probably didn't deserve a spot over other less expensive arms.

Seems like another case of Lou getting what he wanted... He sure didn't seem to have much faith in Wuertz.

His numbers were deceiving and he had no guts. I remember many times the last 2 years when he'd screw up in the 6th or 7th inning, then Marmol comes in and saves Wuertz's ERA. Guzman should be the next to go.

The value of Wuertz must be obscenely low...both of those "prospects" are almost completely worthless.
I wonder why the Cubs didn't just stick him in AAA, to call up if injuries decimated the pen?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Dude can't throw strikes and Lou hates that. Makes me wonder why the hell we got Gregg. Lou is going to kick the shit out of that guy.
