Pitchers And Catchers Report
Lee came back today and you could tell that quad was still bothering him a bit as he ran the bases. He went 1 for 2(I think), doubled to right, walked, and popped out on the 9th or 10th pitch of an at bat. He was taking some swings with authority though, something he wasn't doing much in the 08 2nd half.

Bradley is a blast to watch at the plate. I've seen about 5 of his at bats so far this spring and he hit the ball hard every single time, deep in the count about every time. He's just got that swagger up there. If he can make it to October healthy, I think he's going to show us why the Cubs gave him all that money. He's the type of guy we've lacked.

Marmol's slider is still not right, but that's understandable in March. He blew fastballs by the first hitter he saw today, then did the same thing to the 2nd hitter... but 0-2 he throws a slider, hangs it, dude hits it at about the top of the scoreboard over the left field fence. Nobody was touching his fastball though and that's been the case in every game I've watched of him this spring, whether it be this or the WBC. It's the slider that's hurting him. I'm sure he'll get it right though, really I'm just glad to see him throwing that fastball for strikes. There were times last year he had no idea where it was going and would throw sliders instead on like 3-1 counts.

Marmol has said his slider just won't bite in Arizona.

Not saying that it means anything, but he's looked great in his past 2-3 outings. I'd much rather keep him than Vizcaino.

Maybe, but with Guzman it's all about health not ability. And Vizcaino is the pitching equivalent of Randall Simon without the miniscule talent.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->"I'm a winner," he said. "When I went to the Dodgers [in 2004], after they hadn't been to the postseason since '88, they went to the postseason. I went to the A's in 2006. We weren't supposed to do anything, and we went to the ALCS. I was with San Diego [in '07]. We were one win away from making the postseason, and I got hurt. Everywhere I go, people win. It's not a surprise."<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Guzman and Patton both deserve to make the team over Gaudin and Vizcaino.
