Cardinals
See Cards and Cubs driving up Davis’ contract value for eventual winner.

More concerned that Cards will get Machado.

If the Cardinals get Machado, you can count me as officially concerned.

Well, that's carrying it a tad far. He was very, very good last year. But according to Baseball Reference, his top comp is Ellis Valentine.

That was before access to Cards voodoo magic was provided.

He had a break out in 2017 with over 42% of his current career to date WAR (Baseball Reference's WAR) based on just 24% of his career ABs from last season.  Comes down to believe that he's found it and will continue to produce at 2017 levels or will he revert back to pre 2017 production.

Not wishing that upon him, but it just seems be an annual occurrence for Cards players.

He could get his initials on the sleeve before he even gets his name on the back.

He moved closer to the plate this last season. He used to get out on pitches low and away. Now hes hitting those.

One lesson that Bosio ensured was that Cubs pitchers owned the inside of the plate. Its not new nor earth shaking. Recall a number of lean years when Cub pitchers didnt lead in many pitching categories but they didnt seem to have problems with batters crowding the plate.

Saw this on Twitter and looked it up to verify:

Yadier Molina has the exact same career OPS as David Ross (.739)
