Patton can go back to the Rockies, Cotts and Fox can take a hike, and they can make up an injury for Heilman. At this point, I wouldn't mind seeing Marshall back to the bullpen and Wells given a few more starts after Zambrano is back.

At some point they are going to have to give up the farm to get guys like Heath Bell, Jason Grilli, Russ Springer, Jim Johnson and Denys Baez... and it makes me sick.

I don't think any of those guys other than Heath Bell would cost more than a prospect. And Heilman is going to have to be a key part of this pen, like it or not. He's not going away.

That's why I said make up an injury. When did I say anything about him going away?

He's a key part of this team and needs to step up. They're not going to just give up on him already, that would be beyond foolish. If he's really hurt, sure.

Look Clapp, you're clearly not getting it. Making up an injury for any player is a silly suggestion made out of frustration. Do you really think I'm hoping Heilman suddenly gets a vaguely described DL listing? It's happened before, but I don't think it's something a team can do on a regular basis.

Honestly though, I think Heilman needs to give it a rest for a few weeks. The more realistic option is relegate him to mop-up duty. However, that may be a problem seeing as we don't have anyone else that can step up and be an effective late inning reliever.

I'm pissed off and unlike a lot of guys on here, I don't usually go off on non-sensible tirades too often. So let me have this one, eh?

Yes, I'm totally getting it, it's just not the way to handle this. He's not going to get out of his problems sitting on the bench thinking about it or being moved to the mop up role. Did we give up on Marmol after his crappy outings? He's gotta get back out there and get it together. It's known this guy had some confidence issues in New York and benching him or moving him to Fox duty isn't going to get his game back together.

On the contrary. I think putting him in non-pressure situations would give him a chance to succeed thus leading to a build in confidence. I guess we'll disagree on it then.

However, as I stated, I don't think it's going to be a possibility to let him do mop-up duty unless we want Ascanio to move right in and start setting up for Gregg (or Marmol?).

Samardzija needs to stay away from the 25 man roster.

There's no way in hell he's going to be back up anytime soon. Lou made it pretty clear Shark needs to learn another pitch if he wants to pitch at the mlb level, pretty much ripping on him in the presser the other day. I don't see Lou letting him back up for a few months, at least.

Absolutely, he had absolutely nothing. He has no business being in the bigs right now. I don't think we will see him back up til September.

Our bullpen is just brutal.

Marmol is the only guy there I have confidence in.

So, Ascanio has to be called up for Fox now, right?

Has anyone mentioned Chad Fox's 135.00 ERA?

Put this has-been douche out to pasture already. For fuck's sake.
