I'm happy with someone simply picking up the majority of his contract.

I've been thinking about this over and over and none of it makes sense. I won't lose any sleep over losing Vizcaino, but why not Cotts? His lefthandedness has never actually been a strength. Plus it just pisses me off that we keep eating contracts.

Glad saving all that money by getting rid of DeRosa helped out. My oh my, his 15 RBIs would sure break the bank wouldn't they. Hendry has lost his mind. DeRo, Gaudin, and Vizcaino, 3 moves that make little to no sense. Is Trachsel available or something?
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

every time the cubs make a move, i find it harder and harder to defend them. cotts is struggling, so we bring up spellcheck and move vizcaino....who isn't struggling. i'm confused.

I'd say it's a combination of that, and the simple left-handed thing. Doesn't matter that he sucks, and isn't really great against lefties. Lou would rather die than not have a lefty in the pen.

When I first heard this I thought, "awesome. Spellcheck is starting, Marshall to be the lefty in the pen and Cotts is gone."

Am I crazy? Shouldn't it be that easy?

No, but his .224 average and .304 OBP might.

For God's sake guys, we didn't trade Albert Pujols. Mark DeRosa is a nice player. But the Cubs didn't trade him simply for the money, and it's NOT the end of the world. The move saved money. AND it got us prospects. AND it opened up 2b for a lefty who had really good numbers last year AND is younger than Dero.

It may end up a terrible move. Fontenot might end up showing us that last years numbers were a fluke. DeRosa might end up showing us that last year was NOT a fluke. But until that happens, can we please give up on the constant "we never should have traded DeRosa" moaning?

Except for the fact that Marshall is, at least now, a better starter then Shark. I don't want Shark in the rotation, he hasn't proven he can do it. He had a couple good AAA starts after a terrible spring, that doesn't scream replace Marshall to me.

6 of his RBI came in one game against the Yankees when they won 24-3 or whatever too.

Nats or Reds, though I think we'll be eating some of his salary for either of those to happen.
