I love how we trade DeRosa to save $2.5 million, but we're totally cool with pissing away $1.6 million for absolutely no reason. Awesome.

Gaudin will be a very nice pick-up for someone. I would have really liked to see them deal Guzman, as they wern't going to get anyone to bite on Gaudin's $2 mil contract. What a waste.

Someone fucked up at some point, because Hendry told Piniella no one would be released. He said it would be options and trades, that's it. So a trade fell through, or Hendry was WAY too overconfident in his ability to find a taker for Gaudin or Guzman.

This seems partially short-sited because does anyone really believe Guzman will be healthy for more than a month?

My money's on Gaudin being better than both Guzman and Patton by mid-season. I hope not, but that's what I really, really believe.

I think that would be a good thing if he keeps throwing 95 mph fastballs right down the middle like he has in spring and in every chance he's had at the majors. LOVE his stuff and potential, but he still doesn't seem to have figured it out.

I hate to be a front office apologist, but obviously there was something wrong with Gaudin that we just don't know about. That has to be it, right?

Very possible but like I said, he looked great yesterday. His fastball had a lot of zip(more than Harden's anyway), hitting his spots, and his slider was terrific. That's what he did last year before the back injury. Too little too late I guess, but it showed he still has the stuff at least.

Ugh, I'm just really frustrated by this (compounded by the fact that I haven't had a lot to be frustrated about with this team lately... ).

If Patton sucks it up in a few weeks, the Cubs would also get nothing for him. I understand the desire to keep him, but on a championship calibre team, there's no room to "stash" guys. He better be legit.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but this just makes me despise the DeRosa trade even more.
