I'd trade Gaudin for a BJ.

Or is that just the Cub fan in my starting to shit a brick because the regular season is only days away?
We've blown leads of more than 3 runs in 4 of the last 7 games. That sucks. Some of it is due to errors from minor league fill ins, but the pitching is guys that are either definitely on this team, or fighting for the last spots. Not good.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Spring flippin' Training.

I am usually in the same camp with you and Ace that ST is generally meaningless. However, I think trends can be drawn from it. If you suck, it will be exposed that you suck. If your team is incredibly bad, I think that can be seen (ie the Astros ST record). If your team is ready to play ball, that can be seen too (ie the Angels). The overall record doesn't matter, but the individual performances, when we get to the end of ST, do matter. These guys are no longer working on that extra pitch, or working out a kink in their mechanics. The guys that are fighting for a roster spot are, presumably, showing us their best effort at this point.
So while Marmol, Heilman and Gregg look fine, the rest are shaky. We'll see what we get in another 3 days.
I got nothin'.

Along with Gregg, Marmol, and Weilman being fine, we have Patton who's been good all spring and Vizcanio and Guzman who have been good as of late. Gaudin, Samardzija, and Cotts have been sub-par, but between the 3 of them, they're probably only gonna get 1 spot on the roster.

I would be quite happy with 3 lights out guys in the pen.
There is a reason why they are middle relief pitchers.

So, nothing yet on the final bullpen/roster moves. I guess we are going down to the wire.

I keep hitting refresh on my various news sources. I can't believe this is actually going down to the last 30 minutes.

Cubs release Gaudin, Shark to AAA, Guzman and Patton make the team. I'm really fucking pissed off Gaudin was released. He looked really good yesterday and will get it back at some point. To get nothing back for him really blows.
