Maybe it would've prevented him from retiring today. Nice career asshole.

We should've signed Ibanez instead of Bradley.

Or someone similar for a lot less money. (BTW, every time you think of Bradley, just think of Dennis Green's tirade: He is who we thought he'd be! The good and the bad.) Learn it. Live it. Love it.

BTW, Wilkerson was traded for Alf.
One of the throw-in guys in the trade was Armando Galarraga, who's turned out to be the Nolasco of the deal: 13-7 last year, 2-0 this year.

After reading the link Coach posted above, I am pretty sure that I am going to stick with the real baseball scout opinions. I am on record as being against the Soriano signing, but to get your panties in a bunch about trading Wilkerson for Soriano seems ludicrous to me now, as it would have in 2005.

Good point savant, although it wasn't really a scouting thing, per se; Wilkerson just fell off a cliff, completely.
When it's in such a surprising fashion, you have to wonder if steroids were involved (although his main strength was getting on base...not the usual thing helped tremendously by bulking up). It's pretty rare for a 28 year-old star to just completely stop hitting, ever again. Also, if you look at Alf's career stats, they look like a reverse Bell curve. In his late 20's (usually a hitter's prime years), he had his two worst seasons. That's off-the-charts rare. Those were his only years in Texas, so you can see how they thought he wasn't that great. Like many ballplayers past and present, the trade shook him up, and he responded with an MVP-calibre year in Washington.

KB those were also two years where the Rangers tried to move Soriano out of the leadoff spot.
