Those are his statistics, but he's hit the ball very hard in the last week. He was robbed of about 4 RBI and 2 doubles by Emilio Bonifacio in one game of this last series.

.244, 5 HR, 17 RBI, .799 OPS
.244, 6 HR, 21 RBI .751 OPS
What's your point?

My point is that everyone was jizzing in their pants when Fontenot was hitting .260 and it has slipped since then. I'm just not convinced that he's an everyday player like everyone else thinks. He's had good streaks of play, but I don't know why he was promised the starting job other than his handedness.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm rooting my ass off for Fontenot. But everyone here is convinced he's going to outperform DeRosa. I'm not so sure.
That's my point. More or less.

He's been swinging the bat just fine, look at his splits. He needs to be playing against right-handers, where he's dominated. He also leads our team in RBI.

Fontenot in his career against righties:
546 PA, 16 HR, 75 RBI, .296/.381/.483
vs. lefties:
103 PA, 1 HR, 11 RBI, .216/.277/.318
This year:
82 PA, 5 HR, 14 RBI, .286/.390/.543
18 PA, 0 HR, 3 RBI, .067/.111/.067
He's hitting just as well as ever, it's just that he's had to face lefties more than you'd like him to.

Yeah, all the freaking out over guys or praising guys like Vitters through a dozen games or so just cracks me up. It's baseball, slumps happen and great streaks happen. How'd Chris Shelton turn out?
If Fontenot's hitting .200 on June 1st, I'll start to get worried.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'd say .200 (or worse) on June 1st is starting to look like a distinct possibility. He looks absolutely lost up there.

Even better, Miles is putting up a .333/.375/.533 line against lefties this year. It should be a straight fucking platoon out there.

He looked good tonight at the plate. Doubled to left field and hit the ball hard on another flyout there. That's a good sign because he's at his best when he's driving the ball to left. He'll get it going and needs to just play against right-handers as Scarey was saying. Start Miles less against right-handers, and every game against left-handers.

Give Ryan Freel some fucking playing time.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

Exactly. The main reason why Fontenot is playing so much against LHs is because he's been at 3B a lot not 2B as he was earlier in the season. Lou needs to mix and match better.
