Maybe Pittsburgh, but they have a lot of history. Up until last season, Tampa would have been on the short list, and maybe even KC. None of those are clear cut, but you could make a case for others. It just isn't a compelling case considering how teams from leagues that are in much worse shape than MLB, like NHL and some NBA teams, are in no danger of contraction.

No team with a new(er) stadium is going to get contracted, so that basically leaves the Rays and the Marlins. The Marlins have a deal for ballpark and the Rays went to the World Series, so they are both out.

I also think it affects the NL in an adverse way since we have more teams and thus more competition for a finite amount of revenue. This gives an unfair advantage to the AL since we have more small market teams in the NL. If one weaker team were shipped off to the AL it would help balance things out not just in terms of dollars, but in terms of talent as well.

The Astros remain in the NL and Texas continues to have an NL and an AL team for the people that would be bothered by that. I just think its completely unfair that one set of teams have a 25% chance of making the playoffs and one set of teams have a 16% chance of making the playoffs (not including the wildcard). No other sport does that, and it's total bullshit.

And actually by spreading the games out, you might bring back some more interest to it. There could be an "Interleague Matchup of the Week." Instead of having the Sox-Cubs, Mets-Yanks, Dodgers-Angels, etc. all playing at basically the same time, you have one marque interleague matchup per week and probably elevate the interest level there a little.
