The clip is up on MLB.com. The ump stepped into Z, and then ejected him. An impartial observer would probably figure a 5-10 game suspension. With the Cubs involved, nothing would surprise me.
I like you guys a lot.

actually, the angle that shown on WGN where you can clearly see that the ump initiated contact is not on MLB.com. You can see how close the play was and that Z did not go too crazy. At least until he picked up the bat.

If its anymore than 6 games, Z should ask the players union to request an arbitrator. That said I fully expect him to get 10. Bob Watson loves fucking over the Cubs every single chance he gets.

I haven't seen it, but Sullivan has a different take than what I've read from you guys.
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->After Nyjer Morgan scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning, Zambrano argued that he'd made the tag before Morgan's hand touched the plate. Zambrano got into Carlson's face with the ball in his hand, repeatedly pointing at Carlson before being ejected.
Zambrano then pretended he was ejecting Carlson, and <b>purposely put his shoulder into Carlson</b><!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Boy, there's a surprise. I can't believe he didn't report Zambrano ripping off Carlson's dick and throwing it onto Sheffield.

Sullivan wouldn't do that, though. He's one of the best beat writers in the country.

I know, that's why I asked. He later does mention that the Cubs think Carlson initiated the contact, but I think it's clear he believes (or wants to believe) otherwise.

I'll stick this in this thread because it deals with Lilly's incident.
Davidson says Cubs' Lilly lied to media
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->"He said I was embarrassing myself, so that's why I threw him out," he said. "Then he gave me a few [expletives]. ... He was, quote, 'trying to get his money's worth,' I suppose."
Lilly declined to comment.
"He never said that," Davidson said. "I just found out I scored just about a 96 [out of 100] on my plate job, so my concentration was pretty [darn] good in my opinion."
MLB umpiring supervisors grade umpires on a daily basis after reviewing videotapes.
<b>Davidson said out of 215 pitches Monday, he was told he'd missed 10.
</b>
<b>"Eight of them were pitches I called strikes that shouldn't have been," he said. "The other two, one went against Pittsburgh and one went against Chicago. My concentration was excellent."</b><!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I find it hard to believe he only missed 10 pitches, and him calling more strikes than he should have I find laughable.

The umpiring crew should be suspended for a complete shithouse series.

Since when are the umpires allowed to talk to the media?

For the record, it was a Paul Sullivan article.

Ditto.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

You know what, a 96% accuracy rate isn't all that fucking impressive. Just saying.
